At two locations in the Netherlands:
- Galerie Zone, Leiden, NL May 2- 30, 2021
- High Five Art, Baarle Nassau, NL, May 2- August 22, 2021
Open by appointment due to the Pandemic
Beyond Boundaries grew out of a May 2018 meeting of European SDA members in Tilburg (Netherlands). The exhibition was planned for two locations in May 2020, coinciding with the Textiel Festival in Leiden. Due to the Pandemic, both exhibitions had to be postponed until 2021 and are now opening on May 2, 2021 at Galerie Zone in Leiden and High Five Art in Baarle Nassau. Leiden’s Galerie Zone exhibition runs until May 30, and High Five Art runs until August 22. Both galleries allow visitors by appointment. Leiden’s Textiel Festival has been postponed until 2022.
A three-person jury selected works of 30 artists from ten countries, reflecting the variety of disciplines of each artist. The artwork is spread over both galleries and includes weaving, art quilting, mixed media, stitching, and shibori on fabric and leather. Jurors included Anne Mie Boonen, artist and lecturer at the Academy of Genk (Belgium); Helda Klouth, co-owner of High Five Art; and Karina van Vught, EU representative and owner of Zijdelings.
